The Canberra Emergency Care Centre provides fast access to emergency care for patients of all ages.
Our specialist-led team is equipped to assess and treat a wide range of urgent conditions, including injuries, infections, chest pain and breathing difficulties.
With 17 treatment spaces, including a dedicated resuscitation room, patients can be assessed, diagnosed and treated in one location.
On-site advanced imaging, including CT, MRI, X-ray and ultrasound, supports rapid diagnosis and treatment during your visit, without the need to attend another facility.
Care is supported by experienced emergency doctors, along with access to local specialists and surgeons when required.

The team at the Canberra Emergency Care Centre can diagnose and treat sports and musculoskeletal injuries, including fractures, sprains and soft tissue injuries.
On-site orthopaedic specialist support is available when required to assist with the assessment and management of more complex injuries.
Our team cares for patients of all ages, with a focus on recovery, function and a safe return to activity.
The Canberra Emergency Care Centre operates daily from 8am-8pm, 365 days a year.

All patients are welcome at the Canberra Emergency Care Centre, whether you have private health insurance, WorkSafe cover, Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) coverage, or no insurance.
There is a facility fee charged for attending the Canberra Emergency Care Centre. This fee covers the cost of using the emergency department, including facilities and support services.
The facility fee is $370 and is not covered by Medicare or private health insurance.
Emergency doctors provide a separate medical service, which is bulk-billed to Medicare. The Canberra Emergency Care Centre processes this Medicare billing on behalf of the treating doctor.
For patients who are not eligible for Medicare, the facility fee to attend the Canberra Emergency Care Centre is $695.
Medicare-eligible patients can return to the Canberra Emergency Care Centre for the same condition within three days of their initial visit at no additional facility fee.
For patients who do not have access to Medicare, a $395 facility fee applies to return visits for the same condition within three days.
Standard items used during your care are included in your facility fee. Some items, such as complex dressings or medical aids including crutches, may incur an additional charge.
If you require imaging or pathology (including X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound or blood tests), these are billed separately by external providers.
The Canberra Emergency Care Centre is located within Canberra’s Summit Healthcare Hub, bringing together a range of services in one convenient location. This helps reduce delays in assessment, treatment and recovery.

The Canberra Emergency Care Centre is a walk-in service with no referral required to attend.
All patients are welcome, whether you have private health insurance, WorkSafe cover, Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) coverage, or no insurance. A facility fee may apply, and WorkSafe and DVA claims are processed where applicable.
If further care or admission is required, we provide streamlined referral pathways to private specialists and hospitals.
